首先不否定汤姆的智商出色，为了抓杰瑞可以说是费尽心思。不但会设计陷阱还会利用杰瑞贪吃的特点用美食诱惑杰瑞，虽然每次杰瑞基本都能化险为夷但是也不能忽略汤姆的智商。而且汤姆在动画里对付天敌也蛮有一套的，经常把斯派克弄得非常惨，步奇和莱特宁也不是汤姆的对手（猫和老鼠人物介绍请看我以前写的猫和老鼠配角介绍）。在动画里边基本没有汤姆不会使用的东西，自行车，汽车，飞机，火箭都会开。洗衣做饭打扫卫生也不在话下，而且汤姆的音乐素养也不错弹钢琴水平非常高。因此个人认为动画片里边汤姆的智商是仅此于杰瑞的存在。汤姆智商不低
其次为啥汤姆只能排在第二呢?因为剧情里边有汤姆的老冤家杰瑞。在智商上碾压汤姆，基本上汤姆设计的陷进和机关最后受害者都是汤姆。当然杰瑞也有上当的时候，不过等到杰瑞反击的时候汤姆的下场一般都非常惨。而且杰瑞懂得合纵连横利用其他猫，斯派克和汤姆的矛盾解决汤姆。记忆犹新的就是汤姆和几只猫联手收拾杰瑞，但是杰瑞利用一只母猫成功瓦解了汤姆的联盟，最后的下场就是几只猫两败俱伤，而杰瑞抱得美人归。因此总体上说杰瑞的智商是高于汤姆的。杰瑞总可以找到方法收拾汤姆
